ABOUT THE GOSPEL HEIRS

Andrew, Derek and John enjoy and treasure the opportunity to sing the gospel to God's glory.
Their singing is an integral part of their lives but, as you will see, each of them have various other commitments with work, family and, of course, church.

John Polson
Hi,

Hi, I'm John PolsonI'm John and I'm known as the cheeky/smiley one of the group. Its probably because the other two are so dour and boring looking all the time. I also work for Colgate Palmolive so I really do have to smile all day and all night or I'll lose my job, and my company teeth!

I've been married to my lovely wife Elspeth for nearly ten years and we have two sons, Jacob and Isaac John.

Singing with The Gospel Heirs over the last eleven years has been of great personal blessing to me and my family. We believe that we can help people step outside their daily lifes and spend time in Praise and Worship and hear the Gospel all in one and we believe that people can easily see the benefits of life in Christ through our testimony in song.

Anyway, Elspeth has come over to see what I'm writing and shes not happy that she only merits one line in paragraph 2 of this blurb so, here goes; Elspeth is also patient, kind, loving, temperate and very good in the kitchen. in fact she is the perfect wife.......

Derek McCormickHi, I'm Derek McCormick
Hi - I'm Derek as you probably guessed from the name above. I'm the oldest member of the group (hard to believe, I know but the years have been kind) and, as such, I bring the wisdom and maturity required J :-).

I am married to Esther, my fantastic wife with oodles of patience and understanding and we have two children - Fraser who was born in April 1997 and Beth who arrived in May 2001.

Working for the Bank of Scotland (no free samples I'm afraid), I was transferred down to London where I worked for just under three years. We are now back and living in Central Scotland and enjoying being close to our families and friends once again.

Gospel music has always played a big part in my life. I was brought up on a staple diet of good Christian music, which was played and sung in the house. My dad sung regularly in a number of different churches in Scotland and my desire is that gospel music will influence the lives of my children as much as it did my own life.

Andrew PolsonHi. I'm Andrew Polson
Hi, my name is Andrew. If you would like to know more about me then e-mail me personally with your questions, however I could tell you a few things here first.

I like my brother John was born on the 23rd May 1972. On March 21st 2001, I was married to my beautiful, caring and understanding wife, Faith (SHE MADE AND PAID ME £100 TO SAY ALL THAT) and also have a son Adam. We live in a suburb of Glasgow. At present I am freelance in Music and Broadcasting.

So there you go thanks for taking the time to visit our website, and if you would like to e-mail me I will be glad to respond.

HISTORY OF THE GOSPEL HEIRS

It's probably safe to say that in any church, the young people are always given much encouragement to take part in the life of the church and to demonstrate their commitment, enthusiasm and zeal for the work being undertaken.

And so it was when a group of eight young Christian men started singing occasionally and then more regularly in the church that they all worshipped in.

The group was affectionately known as "the boys" within the church. Andrew Polson, John Polson and Derek McCormick made up three of the eight with Andrew also providing the piano accompaniment.

As the "boys" got older and the numbers began to reduce through university commitments, marriages, etc. "The Gospel Heirs" began in earnest with Andrew, John and Derek beginning to take on commitments out of their own church. The year was 1991.

The musical style was simple - three part male harmonies on well-known and loved old gospel hymns.

The undiluted message of the gospel was being spread through song and testimony.

As the years passed, the number of engagements grew and the style of music and the presentation of the gospel became more popular leading to the first recording being made in 1994. "Give Thanks" was a step of faith for the group but proved to be a great blessing both to the "Gospel Heirs" and the hundreds of homes that the cassettes found their way into.

Since "Give Thanks" the Gospel Heirs have recorded a further 6 albums including 4 videos.
